Project Overview:
Aura is a boutique interior design studio specializing in sustainable, minimalist living spaces. We created a portfolio website that functions as a digital gallery, utilizing negative space and slow-motion video to reflect the studio's design philosophy of "calm and intention."
The Challenge:
The client needed a website that didn't just show photos, but conveyed the atmosphere of a room. Standard portfolio grids felt too cluttered and rushed. They wanted visitors to slow down and truly appreciate the details of the materials and textures.
The Solution:
We implemented a horizontal scroll layout that mimics walking through a gallery. Images are presented one at a time, surrounded by generous whitespace. We integrated ambient audio cues (that can be toggled on/off) to match the visual mood of each project. The navigation is hidden until needed, ensuring the photography is always the focal point.
The site has become a key differentiator for Aura in a crowded market. The studio reported receiving higher-quality inquiries from clients who specifically aligned with their minimalist aesthetic, reducing time spent on unqualified leads.
